In Austin this Week? Read On…

Hey BagIt fans in Austin, TX! Great news! Mayor Lee Leffingwell is hosting a town hall meeting next Monday to discuss what an ordinance to restrict the free distribution of plastic bags might look like. Can you make it? Tell your friends and colleagues? The meeting will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Austin Energy building.

Want our two cents?

BagIt advocates for ordinances that:

– ban or place a charge of at least 5 cents on plastic bags
– place a charge of at least 5 cents on paper bags
– require post-consumer recycled content in paper bags
– include strong standards for reusable bags to ensure that consumers have access to high-quality, durable bags that will last a long time
