I am puppy-sitting today. An adorable golden doodle with teeth like a raptor. As we lay on the floor playing, his teeth found something other than my skin for once. “What was it?” you might ask.
Guess what? A piece of plastic.
As I pried the crinkly bit of cellophane out from between his razor-like teeth, I breathed a sigh of relief. Who knows what havoc cellophane might wreak on his developing digestive system?
In the name of animals across the earth, let’s look at some ways we might avoid plastic pollution this Thanksgiving.
First, statistically, Americans throw away a quarter of their food throughout the year. This Thanksgiving, prepare less food or invite more people over to eat!
The Huffington Post has seven ways to make Thanksgiving 2010 the greenest holiday yet! My favorite is using nature’s own decorations for your holiday table – dried ears of Indian corn, gourds, fall leaves etc.
And the best tip of all: take a break from consuming and give thanks for what is already in your life!
