Sexy Celebrities and Bottled Water – by Rebecca Mayer

Seattle and Sydney have done it. Concord, Massachusetts and San Francisco are trying to.

Ban bottled water, that is.

The packaging is bad. The wasted fossil fuels are a problem. And most bottled water is no better for us than tap. Environmentalists everywhere are saying so.

Bottled water distributors are nervous. So they’re bringing on the sexy.

See here.

If you would like to encourage celebs like Jennifer Aniston to endorse environment-friendly products instead, check out this awesome blog.

Fake Plastic Fish

Good news.  Many celebrities (a lot of them sexy) endorse the Plastic Pollution Coalition.

On this site, I signed up to be a S.U.P.E.R. Hero.  Yes!  That stands for Single-Use Plastic Emergency Response.  Catchy.  See what I mean about starting small?  This just required a few seconds, and already I feel like I’ve done something proactive.

This site is a great up-to-the-minute resource on issues demanding immediate action.  When I checked it, I learned of a bill on the table in California that would ban the hormone-disrupting chemical Bisphenol A (BPA) in infant products.  The site provides direct phone numbers to the offices of California senators who could swing the results positively.

The more I check things out, the more I find small actions easy to take.  I can definitely spare 10 minutes out of my day to help protect babies from toxic formula and sippy cups!

Which is a whole different kind of sexy.
